Honor twelve pioneering Black innovators all year long with the Black Innovators 2027 Desktop Calendar from Descendants of the Taken Ones (DTOA). Each month pairs original portrait artwork of a trailblazer with a gold-on-black 2027 date grid, and marks the days that matter — US federal holidays plus heritage and cultural observances including Juneteenth, Harriet Tubman Day, Slavery Remembrance Day, Indigenous Peoples' Day, Kwanzaa, Black History Month and Disability Pride Month. Every page also carries a short biography of the innovator.

The twelve innovators, in order: Madam C. J. Walker, who built a national hair-care business and used it to create jobs and fund civil-rights causes; Benjamin Banneker, the self-taught mathematician, astronomer and almanac author; Garrett A. Morgan, who patented the safety hood and an improved traffic signal; Granville T. Woods, whose inventions modernized railway communication; Elijah McCoy, whose automatic lubricator inspired the phrase “the real McCoy”; Dr. Charles R. Drew, who pioneered blood plasma preservation and helped establish modern blood banks; Frederick McKinley Jones, who revolutionized mobile refrigeration; Lewis Latimer, who improved electric-light technology and helped bring electricity into homes and cities; Dr. Christine Darden, the NASA mathematician and aerospace engineer whose research quieted the sonic boom; Dorothy Vaughan, NASA's first Black supervisor and a master of FORTRAN; Dr. Patricia Bath, inventor of the Laserphaco Probe; and Miriam E. Benjamin, who patented the Gong and Signal Chair that anticipated the modern call button.

A note on pricing & shipping

Printed calendars ship heavy, and carrier rates on them run high — sometimes close to the cost of the calendar itself. Rather than pass that along, we lowered our 2027 desktop calendars from $9.50 to $8.50. We would rather keep our history in your hands than protect a margin.

Desktop calendar shipping: United States $7.49 · everywhere else $12.59. Rates are flat by destination and shown at checkout before you pay.
