Celebrate twelve legendary African kings all year long with the Kings of Alkebulan 2027 Wall Calendar from Descendants of the Taken Ones (DTOA). Each month pairs original portrait artwork of a great ruler with a warm cream date grid — a black serif month name, gold weekday headers and generous open squares you can actually write in.
Every month is fully dated for 2027 and marks the days that matter: US federal holidays, plus heritage and cultural observances including Juneteenth, Harriet Tubman Day, Slavery Remembrance Day, Indigenous Peoples' Day, Kwanzaa, Black History Month and Disability Pride Month. Each portrait page also carries a short biography of the ruler.
The twelve rulers, in order: Pharaoh Narmer, who unified Upper and Lower Egypt; King Menes of the First Dynasty; King Piye of Kush, who ruled Egypt as a Kushite pharaoh; King Shabaka, who preserved sacred Kushite knowledge in stone; Mansa Musa I of Mali; the Mwene Mutapa of the Mutapa Empire; Emperor Askia Muhammad I of Songhai; King Shaka Zulu; King Mswati II of the Swazi Kingdom; King Lobengula Kamzilikazi of the Ndebele; Emperor Yohannes IV of Ethiopia; and King Cetshwayo ka Mpande, who led the Zulu to victory at Isandlwana.
